it starts... my very first blog post
Remember that? “It starts” used to be said by Timon at the very beginning of The Lion King video game. We had it on the Sega Mega Drive when I was growing up (and an avid gamer) and I have vivid memories of “It starts” as every time you died, which happening frequently, you’d go back to the beginning and be greeted by Timon chucking his hands in the air saying “It starts” feeling every bit as exasperated as you. No memory cards meant, no level saving… imagine that… starting from the very beginning of the game when you’d lost all your lives… the horror!
I bring up “It starts” as this is what I feel like right now - starting again, at the beginning - thankfully not after losing all my lives… I’m a human lady, not a reincarnated cat… I assume!?
I was an avid blogger in my 20s, I both created and deleted content in a frenzy and had all sorts of sites on Blogger to express my various moods and creative bursts - I had a fashion site, a home-ware site, a site for my paintings, another more successful fashion site, an ill-advised poetry/journal site (luckily that one is looooong gone) and many others that I picked up, then chucked away when I lost momentum/interest.
Now I’m in my 30s and have wanted to start something for years, but wasn’t sure what that something was. I’d come up with ideas and then do nothing with them, they’d just fizzle around in my head, taking up valuable space and pushing out pin numbers and old postcodes.
Not being able to define your ‘style’ is one of the most frustrating things to go through, especially if, like me, you’re even a smidgen creative. Its very easy to look at who else is successful then follow in their footsteps, but I didn’t want to do that, I wanted to make something that was… well, me. Soooo, with that in mind, I’ve decided to blast off and create this site.
So what the heck is this, you might ask. Well, I don’t know, is the honest answer. But, I can tell you what I hope it will be… a creative outlet for my mind junk.
I have recently starting scrapbooking and find it deeply therapeutic, I also love painting with watercolours, acrylics and oils, I enjoy cooking and baking, decorating my home and have an unhealthy obsession with finding the ULTIMATE in makeup and skincare. I figure all of these things will be given time here along with a sprinkling of stuff that I like which includes, but is not limited to, dinosaurs, true crime podcasts, doughnuts, iced-mochas and of course, by no means least, my beautiful cat Clem Fandango.
So there we go, waffle over. If you’re still here and still reading, hopefully some of those things will interest you, if not, maaaaaan have you wasted your time reading that - soz.
So, without further ado… It starts.
